Abstract

The MHIT program combines the knowledge of health IT and management systems with a solid foundation in mobile device management. Students will complete three courses in health IT preparing them for the CAHIMS certification exam which is designed for emerging professionals within the healthcare industry and demonstrates knowledge of health IT and management systems. Mobile Devices are transforming the healthcare industry and is poised to alter how health care is delivered, the quality of the patient experience, and the cost of health care. But with this transformation come security, management, and regulatory concerns. IT Managers are struggling to keep up with constantly evolving mobile device and mobile application technologies. Mobile device usage, especially personally owned devices, are loaded with risks that must be carefully managed to avoid penalties and damaged reputation from breaches of Personal Health Information (PHI). Mobile devices must be tracked, encrypted, and managed to minimize network security and physical security risks.
