Abstract

This course focuses on the basic knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for the nursing care of women, infants and children. Problems of the reproductive system and problems that women develop as part of the process of aging will be taught. The primary focus of the course is the process of pregnancy (including the prenatal, Intrapartum, and postpartum periods), newborn nursing care and pediatrics. Women’s health issues throughout the life cycle are addressed. Pediatrics from infancy throughout puberty will be taught with emphasis on growth and development as well as disease processes. Emphasis is placed on the family, teaching, discharge planning and care within the community.
