Abstract

From the beginning of this chapter, the discussion has been one of planning to not fail by running out of something. In the case of Charlie and the MTA, it was a nickel that was needed. During the remainder of the chapter, the quantity needed is time. The plan should include enough time to guarantee execution of all programs without failing. The conservative planner usually allows extra time and is more successful in implementing the overall system.
