Abstract
The CNC Setup Technician Certificate trains students for a career in the CNC machining and CNC production fields. Students learn the skills required to independently setup and run CNC Vertical Machining Centers and CNC Turning Centers. Students learn how to critically think when doing CNC setups. They will learn how to choose and trouble shoot cutter and tooling options and choose the appropriate tooling for each job type. In addition to honing their skills in the CNC setup applications students are introduced to Conversational programming, Solid Modeling and 2D CAM programming methods. Students will also have the opportunity to earn National NIMS credentials based on the skills learned in this credential. After students have completed this program additional training is available through the Machine Tooling Operations and Technics programs.
Students are required to first complete the Manufacturing Essentials and CNC Operations Credentials before being accepted into this program.
