Abstract

This NANSLO lab activity is self-contained and can be used in first and second semester general biology with lab, microbiology, and botany courses. In this activity, prepared slides of prokaryotes, protists, and fungi are examined at magnifications up to 600X to determine characteristics of these cell types. The lab activity includes background information on cells in living things, basic concepts of cell theory, a description of prokarotic and eukaryotic cells, and the way organisms are classified. The lab activity includes lab exercises and summary questions.
