Abstract

The PIT-CDE Atlas and Cohort project includes a community-led R&D of a web tool that measures and visualizes digital equity score, allows scenario planning for mitigating action and educational program for theoretical and technical knowledge of assessing the divide and designing actionable policies. We completed multiple research and teaching activities through this grant. The teaching activities include launching the SAVI workshop series where we sponsored students's registration and expert instructors' stipend. The SAVI-PIT UN lab workshops offered professionals and students the opportunity to learn innovative and hands-on, practical and skill sets in 3-hour lab sessions to progress in the technology oriented job market and data driven projects and knowledge. More workshops were conducted through PIT UN summer speaker series and CalGIS23 Conference to teach students the theoretical concept and lab techniques for using geospatial analysis and visualization for assessing digital equity. On the research side, the work had three major phases. In the first phase the team completed a comprehensive and interdisciplinary synthesis review of the academic and practical literature to develop a preliminary framework for assessing digital equity.
