Abstract

This learning object defines energy and temperature, and the common units of measurement for both. Two classifications of energy--kinetic energy and potential energy--are further described with examples. Energy is also discussed in relation to providing nutrition for the body, and identifies calculating the energy value of a food item. This learning object further describes heat flow, specific heat, and the energy change processes known as endothermic and exothermic. This learning object is part 3 of 17 parts that comprise this Introductory Chemistry Course.
