Abstract

The Mobile Health Software Development (MHSD) certificate program is a three quarter course of study created for students enrolled in the Software Development AAS degree, certificate program, veterans with a computer programming background, or for experienced programmers to further develop their mobile software development skills. This certificate offers a thorough examination of mobile software development and provides an entry way into healthcare, health information technology, and health information management systems. The focus of this certificate is two-fold; it incorporates entry-level knowledge of health IT and management systems with a solid foundation of mobile software development, including HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Responsive Design, Phone Gap, and the Android mobile development platform. The entry-level health IT specialist۪s curriculum is aligned to the new CAHIMS (Certified Associate in Healthcare Information Management Systems) certification administered by HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society.) The MHSD certificate is designed for current software development students or for those who have previous a degree or experience in software design and desire to enter a career in health IT.
