Abstract
This project will create a central hub for student PIT resources and forge a PIT student network. The Public Interest Technology University Network started as a collaboration between Boston University and Howard University to catalyze a student-led movement aimed at expanding engagement in public interest technology on college campuses. Over the course of the grant, a secondary goal emerged to prioritize the development of diverse student leaders who are committed to an intentional approach to public interest technology, one that centers the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Specifically, our objectives were to:
● Create a PIT student club model that can be replicated across the public interest
technology university network including a brand, toolkit, and website presence that can
serve as a hub
● Launch an annual civic tech hackathon as a signature event for the PIT student club
network
