Abstract
This NANSLO lab activity is self-contained and can be used in physics courses. In this activity, an air track is used to investigate motion without acceleration. Instantaneous velocity can be determined using photo gates. The lab activity includes background information that defines constant velocity and accelerated motion, the method for determining the relationship between the position and time for an object moving with a constant velocity, how an air track removes friction for more accurate readings, and provides the position equation for an object moving with a constant velocity. The lab activity also includes a pre-lab exercise, lab exercises, post exercise questions, and an optional statistical analysis exercise.
