Abstract

This theory/lab course is a continuation of Semiconductor Devices, with a focus on analog circuits configured as linear amplifiers. Topics include linear amplifier configuration and design, amplifier gain, amplifier frequency response, multistage amplifiers, power amplifiers, amplifier bandwidth, tuned frequency amplifier circuits, oscillators, and operational amplifiers. The lab component of this course is designed to reinforce theory by providing hands-on applications through a series of related lab projects. Students will design, build, test, measure, and troubleshoot a number of complex analog amplifier circuit configurations. Electronic test and measurement equipment such as the digital storage oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, function generator, digital multi-meter (DMM), and variable DC power supply will be used extensively throughout the course.
