Abstract
‘Medical Terminology: Clinical’ presents a study of the medical language used in the medical office and clinical settings. Prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, abbreviations, and symbols are included in the content. The combining forms (prefix, suffix, and root words) will be left to the student to review at the beginning of every chapter. Medical reports, including but not limited to H&P's, discharge notes, progress notes, lab reports, and nurse's notes, are analyzed to understand how medical language is used in practical application. Role play scenarios using props are developed and played out in an effort to demonstrate comprehension of medical terms and, to allow students to recognize and develop the interpersonal communications skills necessary to successfully navigate the Medical Office (Lab).
