The Connecticut Health & Life Sciences TAACCCT consortium engaged statewide and local employers to help shape and implement this grant. This included a review of proposed curricula and recommendations for program structure that reflects the Healthcare and Science sectors in the State of Connecticut. The consortium also engaged advisory boards at each member college to solicit input and recommendations for this initiative.

Abstract

This program of study prepares students for an A.S. degree or Certification in Biotechnology. Students who want to receive an Associate's degree complete general education courses along with the Biotechnology Certification program materials. Biotechnology is the field of harnessing biological processes and information to create products and develop technologies that address human problems. Students receive a sound foundation in key biological concepts and information; mastery of laboratory skills and practices; and understanding of current issues.
