Abstract
This course cartridge contains materials for a course that may be offered as credit or non-credit introducing students to the skills, technology, work environment, potential salary, and job placement for occupations in the fields of Machine Tool Technology, Mechatronics (Automation Robotics, Electronics, Fluid Power), Welding and Metal Fabrication, Plastics Engineering Technology, and Engineering CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Technology. This dynamic course provides an outline for activities that could be included such as industry-specific tours or hands-on projects that familiarize students with field practices and shop safety. In addition, a technical aptitude assessment could be administered to assist students in determining if a career in manufacturing fits with their interests and abilities. This is designed as a 12 week course, but could be easily adjusted for your needs. Materials include weekly agendas, a pre-post survey on perceptions of manufacturing, course outline with outcomes, and marketing flyers.
