Abstract

Greenfield Community College (GCC) partnered with Franklin County Technical School (FCTS), the Franklin Hampshire Regional Employment Board (FHREB) and Franklin Hampshire Career Center (FHCC), and a consortium of area manufacturing companies to develop and implement a new 220 hours, credit-free Middle Skills Manufacturing Training Initiative (MSMI) Program. The MSMI program began in September, 2013 and graduated its first two training cohorts of 15 students each. Over 75% of program graduates are employed in the field at starting wages ranging from $15 - $20 per hour. This 12-week intensive training program prepares unemployed/underemployed adults for entry-level CNC machining employment. Classes are held Monday-Thursday evenings from 4pm-9pm at FCTS in Turners Falls. A 90% minimum attendance rate is required.
