Abstract

The Python for GIS course is designed to help students understand how Python can help automate tasks in GIS and increase reliability of data. Beginning with a history of automation in GIS, we will discuss the basics of programming, using model builder and examples from others to jump start coding, developing pseudo code, etc. We will be focusing on ESRI�۪s ArcGIS Desktop software, as well as the arcpy module provided with this software.
