Abstract

This NANSLO lab activity is self-contained and can be used as a diseased cell lab activity in biology, anatomy and physiology, cell biology, and pathophysiology courses. In this activity, prepared slides of blood and blood components are used to compare size and shape of normal and disease states including sickle cell anemia, Thalassemia majors, mononucleosis, and leukemia. The lab activity includes background information on blood cells and the impact of diseases on them, pre-lab exercises, lab exercises, and summary questions.
