Abstract

HI 245 Healthcare Statistics and Analysis Syllabus This course will instruct the student on the basic statistical computations needed specifically for the healthcare industry. Students will learn how and why statistics are calculated and used in healthcare settings including, but not limited to: inpatient service days, length of stay and occupancy, mortality and morbidity, descriptive statistics, and statistics computed within the Health Information Management Department. The student will be required to utilize formulas and perform calculations. The data analysis portion will focus on data search and access techniques (research principles), data reporting, secondary data sources and skill development in data presentation techniques.
