Abstract

Syllabus: This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely administer medications in the ambulatory care setting. A review of the principles of pharmacology, standard math conversions and calculation of medications will be provided. The use of aseptic technique and universal precautions procedures will be emphasized throughout the course. In addition, students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA regulations, charting methodologies and patient education skills acquired in previous Medical Assistant courses. Lecture: 2 hours per week Lab: 3 hours per week
