Abstract
Syllabus for an Intro to Clinical lab science course in a Clinical Lab Assistant certificate program and a Medical Lab Technician Associate degree. This course provides an introduction to clinical laboratory science, including history of the profession, an introduction to the laboratory departments, laboratory safety, basic laboratory equipment and types of tests performed, as well as concepts and procedures used in a professional medical laboratory. An overview of phlebotomy as well as quality control and quality assurance will be covered. The student will also be introduced to the accreditation process, certification, licensure, professionalism and ethics in healthcare today.
