Abstract

Expands the student’s knowledge of injection molding process, components, and industry. MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to: Understand the function, capabilities, and limitations of the injection molding process. Relate process productivity to financial consequences. Identify the need for and contribution of auxiliary equipment common to the injection molding process and industry. Apply raw material performance parameters to actual products. Identify injection mold components and their functions. Program a solid state CRT, closed loop control injection molding machine. Startup, run product, and shut down molding machine. Become aware of the safety features and learn the proper and safe way to provide injection-molded parts. Demonstrate an understanding of troubleshooting techniques.
