Abstract
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the theory of operation of drive shafts, heavy-duty axles, steering systems, air and hydraulic brakes, and suspension systems. Lab times consist of disassembly, assembly, and troubleshooting of the mentioned components. DESL 1720 Commercial Drivetrains 2 is a required course to obtain an Associates of Applied Science Degree or Certificate of Completion in Diesel Technology. This class meets twice a week, 4 hours a day for 8 weeks. This is a 3 credit class that spends 2 hours in a classroom and 2 hours in the lab doing hands on troubleshooting. Homework is assigned before classes and materials are designed to help the student understand the subject matter of that particular class.
