Abstract
This course focuses on the essential knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for the nursing care of adult clients with medical and surgical conditions. Emphasis is placed on the following areas: common stressors and autoimmune disorders, altered regulatory mechanisms and nutritional problems, problems of elimination, and alterations of peripheral vascular function. Chronic illness and its management is also addressed. Selected clinical experiences will afford the students opportunities to apply theoretical concepts on clients in acute care, extended care, and/or community settings.
