The Connecticut Health & Life Sciences TAACCCT consortium engaged statewide and local employers to help shape and implement this grant. This included a review of proposed curricula and recommendations for program structure that reflects the health care and Science sectors in the State of Connecticut. The consortium also engaged advisory boards at each member college to solicit input and recommendations for this initiative.

Abstract

The Therapeutic Recreation A.S. degree program enable students to meet state standards to work in chronic and convalescent nursing homes and other facilities with nursing supervision. The program of study includes the Therapeutic Recreation studies courses as well as the general educational courses in order to receive the Associate��_�s Degree. If a student does not want to pursue an Associate's Degree and complete the general education courses, then that student can receive a Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Both the Therapeutic Recreation A.S. degree and the Therapeutic Recreation Certification contain the same therapeutic recreation courses.
