Abstract
CAT 233 - Introduction to Physics and Instrumentation of CT
This course includes registry prep with a strong emphasis on physics due to the historically low scores on the ARRT registry in the physics category. The content is designed to impart an understanding of the physical principles and instrumentation involved in computed tomography.
Course Outcomes:
ASRT Outcome 01: Discuss computed tomography radiation physics.
ASRT Outcome 02: Describe CT system principles, operation, and components.
ASRT Outcome 03: Describe CT system image processing.
ASRT Outcome 04: Explain CT image display.
ASRT Outcome 05: Describe the computed tomography informatics systems.
ASRT Outcome 06: Describe image quality in computed tomography.
ASRT Outcome 07: Recognize computed tomography artifacts and explain reduction techniques.
Course Outcome 01: Illustrate knowledge of the computed tomography equipment components.
Course Outcome 02: Explain the physical principles of computed tomography.
Course Outcome 03: Explain the interaction of x-rays with matter as to the formation of the CT image.
