Abstract

This learning object defines the classification of matter as either a pure substance or mixture, identifying pure substances as either elements or compounds, and identifying mixtures as either homogeneous or heterogeneous. Further described is the physical state of a substance, and the changes in the physical state of a substance from a solid, liquid, and gas. The use of heating and cooling curves is also used to identify the state of a substance. This learning object is part 4 of 17 parts that comprise this Introductory Chemistry Course.
