Abstract
EIC230 Introduces the basic concepts, principles, equipment and components of instrumentation and control systems found in the process and energy supply industries. The fundamental process variables of pressure, temperature, level, flow and physical properties will be presented. Control loop structure and function will be introduced. The function and operation of a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller will be introduced. Students will assemble and operate basic control loops in a laboratory setting.
