Public Interest Technology University Network

Resources from the Public Interest Technology University Network (PIT-UN), a 63-member network growing the field of public interest technology (PIT). This SkillsCommons collection is a reflection of a subset of projects funded since 2019 by the PIT-UN Challenge, a unique program that drives equitable innovation in technology across academia, government, industry and civil society. Since 2019, the Challenge has deployed over $15 million to build new courses, research centers, community and government partnerships, certificates and degrees, internships, fellowships and other initiatives. Members of PIT-UN lead Network Challenge projects, often in partnership with other universities, community organizations, nonprofits, government offices or companies. The PIT-UN Challenge Fund is a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund.

PIT-UN projects focus on four main areas to build the field:

1. Educational Opportunities

2. Career Pipeline & Placement

3. Faculty & Institutional Development

4. Strengthening the PIT Network

What PIT-UN Grantee Resources Are Available? Resources created by PIT-UN grantees are organized into two collections: Learning Resources and Program Support Materials. Most PIT-UN OER are in the Learning Resources collection and may include both single and comprehensive items. In some cases, the final grant report is available in place of specific teaching materials. Some grantees provide additional resources, while others may require direct contact for access. Each project listing includes the grantee’s institution and contact information for accessing any supplementary materials not available directly on SkillsCommons.
