Students apply skills and tools to facilitate problem solving in a team environment.Item Manufacturing Essentials Certificate(Madison Area Technical College, 2014)Manufacturing Essentials introduces students to the basic skills needed to enter the manufacturing workforce. Students develop an understanding of the manufacturing processes, tools, safe work habits and concern for quality, as well as build on mathematics and communication skills applicable to industry. the knowledge and skills learned in this entry-level training program provide students a foundation for pursuing careers and/or further education in manufacturing businesses, from machining and fabrication, to food production.Item Milling(Milwaukee Area Technical College, 2014)This 10-week entry-level Engine Lathe Training Program is funded through the Department of Labor Making The Future (TAACCCT Grant). You will learn applicable manufacturing safety skills, machine tooling blueprint reading and machine trades math. In the Engine Lathe 1 & 2 courses you will learn how to operate manual machinery and standard machine tooling practices. In addition, you will take academic support math to help you raise your mathematics skills so you can successfully complete this training program and receive college credits and a Engine Lathe Training Program Certificate.Item Stainless Steel Welding(Mid-State Technical College, 2014)The Stainless Steel Welding Basics (GTAW) certificate introduces students to the specialty of stainless steel, allowing them to learn at their own pace. All courses in the Stainless Steel Welding Basics GTAW certificate program directly transfer to the Welding technical diploma. The Welding technical diploma then integrates significantly more hands on learning opportunities to create a well-rounded welding skill set in a wide variety of welding processes, such as shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, submerged arc, oxyacetylene cutting and brazing, plasma arc, and arc-air cutting. Students are prepared to take welding certification tests upon completion of this pathway.Item Industrial Maintenance Technician(Blackhawk Technical College, 2014)The Industrial Mechanic program is designed to give knowledge and the multi-craft skills to maintain complex and integrated manufacturing systems. This program seeks to provide a broad base of skills that are suitable for initial or upgrade training. Blueprint reading, electrical, welding, hydraulic and machining maintenance, drives and linkages, machine rigging, motors and controls and refrigeration fundamentals are all part of the course curriculum. BTC’s faculty bring real-world experience to the classroom and the coursework combines lecture and laboratory experience to provide the maximum amount of information and practical exposure.
